Uniting: Have you worked fewer than your minimum guaranteed hours?
-
Published June 12, 2024
The HSU has received correspondence from Uniting to advise that a significant number of part-time workers may have received fewer than their minimum guaranteed hours.
Uniting says this issue may have affected workers under these enterprise agreements:
- The Uniting Aged Care Enterprise Agreement (NSW) 2017
- The Uniting Aged Care Enterprise Agreement (ACT) 2017
They have committed to compensating affected workers for the shortfall in hours, including payment for wages, superannuation, and interest.
You can view the letter from Uniting here.
This is disappointing and while it is encouraging that Uniting has committed to paying workers what they’re owed, this should never have happened. HSU delegates will request a meeting with Uniting to outline how this occurred, and how they intend to prevent it occurring again.
What do I need to do?
If you work part-time and have received fewer than your guaranteed minimum hours, you should receive a letter from Uniting to advise the hours you’ve missed, the payment for lost wages, and the amount of interest.
If you think you have received fewer than your guaranteed minimum hours but you don’t get a letter from Uniting, or if you think there is a miscalculation in hours or pay, contact Uniting Employee Services in the first instance on 02 7262 2109.
Your HSU delegates are here for you. If you contact Employee Services and don’t get a satisfactory resolution, make sure to contact your local HSU delegates, email [E-Mail not displayed] or call 1300 478 679.
