UNION WIN! Bolton Clarke sub-par EA rejected by Fair Work!

Dear Member,
The Fair Work Commission has dismissed Bolton Clarke’s request to approve its sub-par enterprise agreement that was rushed through and voted up without being properly explained to workers.
Earlier this year Bolton Clarke proposed an enterprise agreement that HSU members considered not fit for purpose, with little more than the minimum conditions provided under the award. Management put it to a vote and, following a rushed process that did not properly explain the terms to staff, a slim majority of workers voted in favour of the offer.
HSU members raised serious concerns about this unfair process.
The Fair Work Commission found Bolton Clarke “did not take all reasonable steps to ensure that the terms of the Agreement, and the effect of those terms, were explained to the relevant employees”.
The Fair Work Commission has dismissed Bolton Clarke’s request to approve the agreement, meaning the agreement is rejected and bargaining for a new enterprise agreement will continue.
Where to now?
We are now back at the bargaining table, calling for improved wages that are consistently above award wages and no loss of conditions.
Bolton Clake have indicated they will have more information by the end of the month.
This is a win for HSU members! Members stood together when presented with a sub-par agreement and shoddy processes.
