Stage 3 pay increases are here! What it means for you

For decades, HSU members have been pushing against the undervaluation of aged care work.
Looking after our society’s most vulnerable is important. It needs to be treated that way.
That’s why in November 2020, a group of HSU members lodged our Work Value Case in the Fair Work Commission, calling for aged care workers to receive a 25% pay increase.
Across the country, HSU members came together to campaign for this vital improvement. We spoke to colleagues and community members, lobbied politicians, gave evidence in court. We never stopped fighting for a better future for aged care.
And last year we celebrated our success, with pay rises of up to 28% for aged care workers depending on your classification.
Now the next phase of these pay increases is here. From the first full pay period on or after January 1, Stage 3 pay increases will come into effect.
These increases also include changes to classification structures in the Aged Care and SCHADS Awards. To understand how you’re affected, please read the FAQ at this link: https://www.changeagedcare.org/
The HSU is the union for aged care workers. These pay increases could never have happened without HSU members standing side by side, in our workplaces and in our communities. If you know someone who works in aged care but isn’t yet a member of the HSU, tell them to use their voice and join the HSU today.
