SAY NO! HSU members support nurses’ industrial action and WON’T be doing their jobs!

Dear Member,

Across the state nurses are taking industrial action after NSW Nurses and Midwives' Association members voted to take protected action this week. HSU members have become aware of NNSWLHD and MNCLHD management directing non-nursing workers to perform related tasks during the action.

HSU members say no! No HSU member should undertake any duties that are routinely performed by nursing staff in your workplace.

It’s unreasonable for workers to be directed to work outside of their duties or classification. And worse – it undermines everything we stand for as union members to strike break for management!

While HSU members are not taking industrial action, we stand in solidarity with nurses doing so and will not undermine them.

If you are directed to undertake work or duties that fall outside your classification or job, contact your HSU organiser, your local HSU sub-branch or the HSU membership line on 1300 478 679 ASAP.

If this persists in your workplace, HSU subbranches are urged to hold urgent member meetings to consider local activities.

Speak to your colleagues, including your non-union member colleagues, and remind them not to undertake work outside of their duties.
