Operational Ambulance Managers Award: Time to consider action
-
Published December 2, 2024
There are two main groups of HSU members yet to have their Award updated/reformed in a manner like members working under the Paramedic award: Non-Paramedic Control Centre Officers, and Ops Managers (Superintendents).
Control Centre Officers have been taking action in pursuit of a fair deal for months – and the fight is far from over.
Now Ops Managers have hit a similar impasse to the Control Centre Officers. In fact, the Ministry of Health withdrew a (‘without prejudice’) offer that was on the table since June without any explanation.
Operational Ambulance Managers – a solid majority of whom are members of the HSU – have been meeting to discuss how to progress their reasonable claims in the face of MoH’s shock withdrawal of the offer. Many are now talking about taking collective action.
Action #1 – only wear ‘blues’ to work with the yellow ADHSU Paramedic Shield.
Action #2 – work to rule – that is, only work the hours required (and paid for) under the Award.
Action #3 – an indefinite ban on circumventing any other workers’ actions, including CCO/on road paramedic actions.
If you are currently on the Ops Manager Award, please take a moment to respond to this survey to have your say on the above actions. The survey closes at 1100 this Wednesday 4 December.
Notice will be provided to the MoH before any of the above actions are implemented.
