Lulworth House: Underpayment update
-
Published August 13, 2024
Dear Member,
HSU members at St Luke Aged Care, Lulworth House, continue to stand up against underpayments after discovering some direct care workers have been paid the incorrect base rate since April this year!
While management committed to an audit after the underpayment issue was raised by workers, HSU members onsite have confirmed their base rates still haven’t changed.
Lulworth House management have informed the HSU the delay was caused by an internal miscommunication, saying “there would need to be an adjustment in the individual classification and hourly rate”.
“All rates (will) be adjusted, and the retro calculations be made as soon as possible,” management said in its communication to the HSU.
Management has committed to providing further updates by 15 August – speak to your delegates or organiser for further updates.
While the delay is frustrating - remember, an employee can claim backpay through court proceedings for up to six years after the underpayment period.
Your base rate will be rectified and the underpaid amount between July 2023 and June 2024 will be back-paid in due course.
But we can only hold management to account if we stand together and grow the union!
