Healthe Care puts profits before patients, announces Gosford Maternity closure

HSU members at Gosford Private Hospital have reported that Healthe Care management has abruptly announced the closure of Maternity Services at Gosford Private Hospital, citing ‘declining birth rates’, ‘decreasing demand’ and ‘challenges with private health insurance funding’.

Even worse, members discovered that Healthe Care was intending to close these services through a public announcement. Management didn’t bother to speak to union members or their representatives first, abrogating their responsibility to undertake consultation.

This decision will impact health workers and the Central Coast community. It is extremely disappointing that Healthe Care should choose to put profits before patients.

The HSU is joining the call to demand that these services remain open to serve the community.

If you are affected by these cuts, please contact your HSU Organiser Tracey Gaddelin by emailing [E-Mail not displayed].
