Carrington Care: What to do if you’re a COVID close contact
-
Published June 5, 2024
Dear Member,
HSU members have reported that Carrington is expecting staff to take their own leave to cover 7 days away from work when they have been a COVID close contact.
This is NOT correct. If you’ve been stood down because you were a COVID close contact, Carrington must pay you. They cannot ask you to use your annual leave, long service leave, or leave without pay. The HSU has raised this matter with Carrington HR. Once they have responded, members will be updated.
If you’ve been asked to use your own leave to cover time away from work as a COVID close contact, it’s important to contact your HSU Organiser Josie Peacock immediately via email [E-Mail not displayed].
Please specify when this occurred and how many days of your own leave that you have had to use as a result of being a close contact (this includes leave without pay). If you have any questions, you can also reach Josie on 0419 264 060.
Well done to members who raised this matter. Let your workmates know about it and tell them to join the HSU. We are stronger when we stand together.
