HSU members working at Advantaged Care Barden Lodge recently raised concerns about the rates of pay and classification of Certificate III qualified staff. 

If you work under limited supervision and hold a Certificate III – and are expected to use the knowledge and skills of that certificate in the course of your duties – you may be entitled to a pay rate of $31.24. 

Examples of Cert III skills and knowledge you may use in the course of your duties includes: 

• Support residents to live with greater independence
• Recognise healthy body systems
• Practice infection prevention and control
• (Other relevant skills from the Cert III courses)

If you think you may be meet these criteria and are currently paid less than $32.14, please send your name, qualification, current pay rate and details of your role to HSU organiser Renee Sheridan via [E-Mail not displayed] to have this raised on your behalf.
