Westmead: Urgent members meeting tomorrow re cleaning infectious areas

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to protecting the community throughout some very difficult times. As frontline health workers, the work that you do is extremely important.
Your Union is still operating as normal and supporting members – including making sure your own health and safety is protected in the workplace.
Unfortunately, it would appear that your health and safety isn’t as much of a concern to the employer. As reported this morning, the HSU has received reports of members not being provided with proper PPE, and unvaccinated members being directed to clean COVID-positive areas despite clear guidelines that this should not happen.
We held a meeting this afternoon with members to discuss these concerns and it was agreed we would take the following action:
- Write to the CE with a list of demands including staff having access to proper PPE and fit testing for masks.
- To give the CE until 3pm tomorrow to agreed and implements these demands.
- To hold a further zoom meeting at 3pm tomorrow and implements work bans from 3pm tomorrow if these demands are not met.
All members are encouraged to attend tomorrow’s urgent meeting via zoom at 3pm to discuss this matter, as your safety in the workplace is paramount. We will do what is required to protect you in the workplace.
TOMORROW 15th July @ 3pm - https://zoom.us/j/99965001087
Members will also be sent a link via SMS.
If any of your colleagues are not yet members of the Union, now is the time to join and get involved. The more members with us, the louder our voice and the harder it will be for management to ignore.
New members should join at www.hsu.asn.au/join, call 1300 478 679, or complete the membership form at this link and return to your delegate or Organiser via [E-Mail not displayed].
