HSU members across the public health sector, including Operational Ambulance Managers and Control Centre Officers in the NSW Ambulance service, previously received a new pay offer from the NSW government. Following a vote that ran from noon of 16 October till noon today, a majority of HSU members voted in favour of accepting the offer detailed below:
- A one-year Award (instead of a 3-year Award) for all workers under Health Services Union Awards, which will allow members to continue with award negotiations
- A 3.5% pay rise, backdated to 1 July 2024
- 100% of salary packaging tax benefits for workers (backdated to 1 July 2024)
- A 0.5% superannuation increase (legally required)
- A $1,000 taxable, one-off cost of living payment if Sydney CPI exceeds 4.0% by March 2025
What does this mean for Operational Ambulance Managers Award negotiations?
As a result of this vote, only the salary packaging, extra payment benefit, and pay rise for this year has been locked in. ADHSU Ops Managers will still be engaging in negotiations to reform the Ops Managers award and to fight for conditions that address matters of recognition and fairer hours of work.
It is important to recognise the membership’s action that brought us in a position to consider rejecting any offers made and continue pushing. The fight for a safe and better award is not finished and ADHSU Ops Managers will continue to do the critical work of collectively pressuring the government and the service to recognise and justly compensate the value of the work that they do for the community.
