UNION WIN: Jindalee Aged Care commits to upgraded staffroom/dining area

Dear Member,

HSU members at Jindalee Aged Care have secured management’s commitment to an upgraded dining area and staff room, complete with lockers, after raising concerns facilities were not fit for purpose.

Members repeatedly raised their concerns the facilities were not compliant, and this week received the following commitments:

  • The existing dining room will be furnished and refreshed for staff (available this week).
  • An extension of the current staffroom is projected to be completed by August 2024.
  • The new staffroom will include two rooms with a total floor area of 50m2 when completed.
  • Staff will have access to a minimum of 50 lockers.
  • Outdoor areas will remain accessible.

“Please be assured that we take these matters seriously, and we are dedicated to finding practical and effective solutions in line with workplace health and safety guidelines,” Jindalee Management said in a statement.

“Your feedback is invaluable in helping us identify areas for improvement, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work towards enhancing our facilities.”

This is a major win for HSU members and shows that when we are active and united, we WIN!
