HSU members at UPA have secured a major win for workers being paid the wrong rate!

Earlier this year, some care workers at UPA raised concerns around their classification and pay rate, pointing out they were not being paid the increased rate that had been secured by the HSU’s historic Work Value Case.

After the HSU contacted UPA, the company finally conducted an audit and found it had failed to properly classify some workers with Certificate III or Certificate IV and had been paying them the wrong rate.

Thanks to HSU members speaking out, affected care workers have had their classification corrected and received backpay to 3 July 2023.  Affected workers should have received email notification from UPA on 20 November 2024 advising of the correction, as well as the backpay.

This win was only possible because HSU members at UPA came together and stood strong.  It’s never been more important to be a union member!
