Underpayment at Beresford Hall: HSU members stand up for their rights!

Published April 16, 2024
HSU members have recently raised concerns they are not receiving the correct wage rates at Beresford Hall.
According to members, when an employee is late for work by 15 minutes or less, the employer (Provectus Care) docks their pay by 15 minutes, regardless.
Such a practice is unlawful because employees must be paid for all time worked.
After HSU members raising the issue, Provectus Care has responded saying they acknowledge the error, and the practice would cease immediately.
Management have also agreed to take the following steps to rectify the error:
- ascertain which, and on how many occasions, employees have had any pay deducted because of being late;
- determine what each employee was entitled to be paid (based on the exact time the employee arrived at work on each occasion they were late) and what they were actually paid;
- calculate the total of any deductions that should not have been made and make back pay arrangements in the next pay cycle;
- contact each affected employee to explain the error, the amount to be back paid and when the payment will be made.
This is a positive outcome that came from HSU members standing up and getting active!
If you think you may have been underpaid because of this error, please keep an eye out for correspondence from management.
