Toronto Private flags redundancies in temporary realignment

UPDATE: Toronto Private have now confirmed one potential redundancy in the administration area.

Dear Member,

Toronto Private Hospital informed the HSU this week it intends to carry out a “temporary realignment” of inpatient bed numbers on the Excelsior and Catalina wards which will lead to a number of staff redundancies.

These changes will reduce Toronto Private’s capacity from 105 beds to 85 beds, with hospital management citing “exceptionally challenging times”.

Hospital management have contacted the HSU to say there may be one "potential redundancy of an administration officer role pending role adjustments". Earlier, it said “adjustments will include role modifications, redeployment options, and some positions becoming redundant” in its correspondence to the HSU regarding the changes.

You can read Toronto Private's full correspondence HERE.

Staff consultations are expected to continue until November 15 with deployments and redundancies finalised by Friday, 29 November.

An upcoming consultation meeting will take place on Monday, November 11 in the Lower Ground Floor Gymnasium at 3pm.

It’s vital workers are consulted on changes in their workplace and have the opportunity to provide feedback.
