Bargaining at IRT: Have your say and stay informed!

Our fight for fairness in our IRT bargaining campaign has kicked off. In our initial negotiations, IRT tabled offers on wages, leave, and other key conditions.

Proposed Changes:

  • Wages:
    • January 2025: 2 per cent
    • July 2025: 2.5 per cent
    • July 2026: 2 per cent
    • July 2027: 2 per cent.
  • Parental Leave: 14 weeks for primary carers (an increase of two weeks) and four weeks for secondary carers.
  • Appreciation Leave: IRT proposes to replace the current one day birthday leave with two days of appreciation leave.
  • Probationary Period: IRT proposes extending the probationary period from three weeks to six weeks.

These initial offers from IRT mark just the beginning. Now, it’s your turn to weigh in.

Have your say in our survey to determine our priorities for the next stage of negotiations.

It’s vital you have your say! Fill in the survey ASAP.

Being union means there is a collective voice for ALL aged care workers, and this enterprise bargaining process is one of the times we have the power to demand meaningful changes in our workplaces!

We have a chance to negotiate for not only fair wages and conditions but also a stronger, more respectful workplace culture.

Campaign Timeline: What’s Next

  • Week of 11 November: Workplace visits and opportunity to provide your feedback directly.
  • Week of 18 November: The survey closes on Friday, 22 November. A draft log of claims will then be pulled together from what HSU members have determined are their bargaining priorities.
  • Week of 25 November: An all-member meeting to discuss the survey results and endorse your log of claims.

With each step in this campaign, our voices grow louder. Join us, stay engaged, and help make sure our collective demands are heard. Make sure you have your say on what is most important in this negotiation.
