Southern LHD administration officers overwhelmingly short staffed, working above pay grades: Survey

Dear Member,

An overwhelming high number of HSU administration staff across Southern LHD surveyed by the HSU are working outside and above their pay grade and almost half feel staffing levels are causing safety risks.

In response to members’ concerns around staffing levels, the HSU surveyed workers across Southern LHD to get a picture of what’s happening on the ground.

Of those surveyed, 85 per cent said there were staffing shortages in their department, while 77 per cent said they felt they were working outside and above their pay grade on a regular basis.

A further 42 per cent said they felt low staffing levels had created a safety risk in their department in the past 12 months.

Following on from these results, HSU delegates have requested a Union Specific Consultative Committee Meeting (USCC) with the district and will represent members’ concerns ASAP.

Please contact your local delegate or HSU organiser [E-Mail not displayed] for further updates and support.

Administration staff are the backbone of our health system, and we cannot function without them! It’s vital members voice their concerns about these issues.

Do you know someone who isn’t an HSU member? Encourage them to join our Union today and have a say at work. We are always stronger when we stand together. New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.
