After a long battle to have NSLHD even recognise an entitlement to the infectious cleaning allowance, operations assistants at Royal North Shore Hospital have now secured six years’ worth of back pay – to be paid at the maximum rate of one claim per shift.

Operations assistants will now be paid the infectious cleaning allowance for every shift they’ve worked since 2018, which will result in payments of up to $7,000 for eligible workers!

HSU officials will be visiting Hornsby Ku-ring-gai and Ryde Hospitals in the coming weeks to discuss how operations assistants in these hospitals can secure backpay on the same terms. To secure the best deal possible – make sure you’re an HSU member!
