NSW transport industrial action and your rights

The HSU has received reports that local managers across NSW Health are directing staff to use their own leave tomorrow because of industrial action impacting train services.

Your manager should not direct you to use your own leave if you are impacted by the industrial action and might be late. If your travel to work will be impacted, you should discuss alternative work or travel arrangements with your manager. Leave should only be used if you agree to it (with some rare exceptions if you have excess leave accruals).

HSU members should not be penalised because of circumstances beyond their control.

If you have been directed to use your own leave because of the industrial action, ask your manager to put the direction in writing and then send it to your local organiser, or contact the HSU on 1300 478 679.
