NSLHD Allied Health industrial action to start this Thursday

Published October 15, 2024
NSLHD is proposing catastrophic cuts to Allied Health and Administration. For some reason, Allied Health and Administration are meant to get by on “affordable staffing” while other groups get “safe staffing” – this isn’t good enough.
HSU Allied Health and Administration members in NSLHD have voted to implement industrial action in response to NSLHD’s disastrous cuts to staffing.
The outcome of the vote was:
- 98% of members endorse LHD wide action.
- All Professions / Department specific actions were endorsed by more than 90%.
Therefore, HSU members will commence industrial action from the start of shift on Thursday 17 October. The full list of actions can be found at this link.
The NSLHD Executive will be unhappy that HSU members are standing up for staff and patient safety. It is important to support each other and call out any behaviour from senior executives designed to intimidate or impede HSU collective efforts to put patient safety first through proper staffing.
If you have any questions, reach out to your local Department HSU Representative / Delegate or alternatively email [E-Mail not displayed].
Resources to assist with industrial action:
- Background explainer on industrial action (for HSU members only)
- Flyer to assist communicating you are taking part in industrial action
- Flyer to communicate why you are taking action (RNSH)
- Flyer to communicate why you are taking action (HKH)
- Flyer to communicate why you are taking action (MVH)
Note: on the back of each flyer there is a QR code for you, your colleagues or members of the public to send a message to the Health Minister requesting he intervene to reverse the budget cuts. You can also use this side as a poster.
