The HSU is aware that Northern NSW Local Health District has advertised a new position of Director of Allied Health within the Mental Health and Adolescent Unit of NNSWLHD.

HSU Psychology members have raised serious concerns that this Director role is not open for Psychologists to apply for. This has resulted in the outrageous situation where 25% of the Mental Health workforce are not able to apply for a key senior management role.

Career development and opportunity are crucial to our profession. HSU Psychology members deserve to be able to apply for roles at higher levels and have representation in management roles.

Earlier today, the HSU Industrial Team and Psychology reps met with management to convey your concerns. We have received an offer to resolve the dispute, but now need to hold a debate and vote as to whether we agree to the offer.

We are holding an urgent zoom meeting at 1pm Thursday 19 January 2023 where a vote will be held on the proposed offer from management.
