Maranoa Retirement Village & Hostel: It's never ok to be assaulted at work
-
Published May 5, 2023
Every worker deserves a safe workplace.
Recently members have raised concerns about the behaviour of some residents towards staff. Being assaulted is not ok and it’s not ‘just part of the job’. An aged care facility is no different to any other workplace and your employer has an obligation to ensure a safe working environment with safe practises.
This also means supporting each other. Members are encouraged to:
- Document and report every incident with details
- Speak to your team leader if you feel unsafe
- Speak to and support colleagues who might be unsure of their rights to a safe workplace
All of this can help management and health practitioners in making adjustments to care plans to make your workplace safe.
You can find an information flyer at this link.
If you would like more information about your rights contact HSU Member Services on 1300 478 679 or your local organiser Kirk Rostock at [E-Mail not displayed].
