Dear Member,
Are you working permanent part time? Have you been asked if you wish to increase your permanent-part-time (PPT) hours?
Laverty has been reaching out to PPT employees to ‘offer’ increased hours. It’s important to know that while Laverty can offer hours at any time, all PPT have rights and entitlements in accordance with the Laverty Pathology (NSW and ACT) Enterprise Agreement 2023.
Your Entitlements
- Your employment contract should include:
- Your minimum hours per fortnight
- The days of the week you will work
- Your start and finish times each day
- You are entitled to be paid overtime if you work outside of your minimum hours in your contract -unless there is a written agreement between you and Laverty to be paid at your ordinary rate
- You are always entitled to overtime when you work over 10 hours per shift or work above an average of 38 per week in a fortnight.
Your Rights
- You cannot be forced to work additional hours outside of your contract
- A part-time member may voluntarily work additional hours at your ordinary rate, when offered by Laverty, up to an average of 76 hours a fortnight
- Voluntarily means accepting the extra hours in writing
- You cannot be forced to sign any document which takes away your entitlement to overtime for hours worked outside of your contact
Ensure your rights and entitlements!
Make sure you:
- have a copy of your employment contract. This will ensure you know when you are entitled to paid overtime or how many hours you can volunteer to work additionally at your ordinary rate.
- talk to your colleagues to let them know their rights
- Get in contact if you have any questions: call your local HSU delegate or call 1300 478 679.
