HSU Win! Technical Officer pathway to Hospital Scientist

Important zoom meeting at 3pm today – registration link below

Today, an award will be made by the Industrial Relations Commission which gives Technical Officers a new right: a clear and objective way to convert to Hospital Scientist!

If you’re a Technical Officer with a degree, read this essential information about your new entitlements. You can find an early copy of the Award creating this right here and in the flyer.

There will be a statewide meeting about this today. Register here to join via Zoom at 3pm, today

Sixteen brave and committed HSU members, backed by delegates across the state, stood up to NSW Health as witnesses in a case filed by the HSU after years of underpayment.

NSW Health fought tooth and nail to keep underpaying degree qualified scientists performing essential work in the health system. They tried every trick in the book but failed.

Today is a historic day. Technical Officers and Hospital Scientists united, fought for and won a new entitlement and pathway for TOs to be correctly classified as a Hospital Scientist.

However, the fight doesn’t stop here for Hospital Scientists and Technical Officers. Many still have conditions and pay that don’t match your contribution to NSW Health and it is only through award reform that we address this undervaluation once and for all. We’ve proven today that we’re up for the fight and can win!

Get involved in the fight for awards that better recognise the work you do – email [E-Mail not displayed] or contact your local HSU organisers and delegates to get involved.
