HSU members have been vocal about the lack of staffing and the increased workloads they have had to endure since moving to the new hospital.

Since early this year, members have engaged with the hospital executive by attending USCC meetings. During recent meetings, members have voiced their concerns about understaffing in the Emergency Admin team. The hospital executive agreed to fund an additional 4.2 FTE to help support existing staff. This will also go towards supporting the hospital switchboard staff.

This week, Maitland Hospital wrote to the HSU to advise that this has now been fully funded and recruitment will commence.

This win is due to HSU members standing together and continuing to push for what they know is right. Maitland Hospital has a long way to go to be fully resourced, but with HSU members fighting for a fair go and safe workloads we can get it done.
