HSU members vote overwhelmingly to accept government offer

The vote on your 2024 pay rise has now closed and HSU members have voted overwhelmingly to accept the NSW Government’s improved pay offer. Over 80% of members in allied health classifications and over 82% of members in non-allied health classifications approved the offer.

Crucially, this offer includes 100% salary packaging, backdated to the first full pay period on or after 1 July. This means HSU members will finally receive their full tax benefit, putting an end to the unfair system of ‘sharing’ it with NSW Health.

Another very important feature of the offer is the NSW Government’s commit to continue with the critical work of Allied Health and Core Conditions Award Reform. HSU members can’t wait to see their conditions modernised to recognise their work – and they won’t have to.

This is a one-year deal, meaning that members aren’t locked in to pay increases potentially lower than CPI. By showing a united front, HSU members successfully dragged the NSW Government back to the bargaining table, rejecting a less favourable offer back in July and forcing them to do better.

The HSU will immediately inform the NSW Government that HSU members have accepted their offer so that the all-important process of calculating pay increases, salary packaging arrangements and back pay can begin.

Members will be kept updated with the latest information as soon as it becomes available.
