Dear members,
Real change is only won when HSU members stand together in solidarity and demand action!
The solidarity was clear last week, when members from across all Nambucca Valley Care sites met to discuss an unacceptable management and workplace culture, which members described as toxic, and tainted by bullying and harassment.
Members have had enough of this culture which is exposing staff to risks of psychological injury. Members have had enough of their workplace rights being ignored.
HSU members called for significant change, to ensure everyone is working in a healthy environment, free from physical and psychological hazards. Members unanimously endorsed the following resolution to stand together and support each other through this process by:
- Formalising HSU workplace representatives at each worksite, to support members and share information across sites.
- Agreeing to complete HSU Workplace Incident Diaries, to document any WHS concerns and prepare a strong brief of evidence.
- Committing our HSU workplace representatives to contact SafeWork NSWon our behalf, to commence discussions with the safety regulator.
- Authorising the HSU to pursue any necessary legal action against NVC management, in the pursuit of a safe workplace.
Members also endorsed regular offsite meeting so support, planning and information sharing can be continued.
The details of the next meeting will be shared via SMS.
Now is the time when workplace leaders and delegates need to be identified so that delegate training can be arranged.
If you would like more information about the campaign to uphold the basic workplace rights of being safe at work or want to know more about being a delegate, please contact your organiser at [E-Mail not displayed]
