Attention: PTOs on temporary contracts

Patient Transport Officers on temporary contracts may have noticed that HealthShare has revised its wording within contracts. If you are a recipient of a temporary contract, whether new or on a rolling basis, you will notice that the title of the temporary contract has changed from “Temporary” to “Exempt”.
HealthShare has deliberately done this to make it more difficult for PTOs to claim permanent contracts.
This is an unsurprising move from HealthShare, who has repeatedly overused temporary contracts for workers legally entitled to permanent work. All workers should have peace of mind of ongoing employment, should they want it. This shows the complete disregard HealthShare has for its workers’ wellbeing.
Delegates encourage you to contact HSU member services before signing these new temporary contracts. This ensures you understand the terms of your work.
Similarly, if you would like to make a claim to obtain a permanent contract, HSU member services can assist with this. Generally, if your job has no clearly defined end, you can claim permanency.
