HSU members reject government pay offer - HealthShare PTS

HSU members have voted to reject the NSW Government’s pay offer.

Members have spoken: a 3.5% pay rise this year is not enough.

Here are some of the things HSU members had to say:

“3.5% is an insulting offer from the Ministry. The money they've saved freezing our wages during the Pandemic, as well as offering an increase bellow current inflation is not fair.”

“Health employees are literally some of the most important people for a functioning society yet are consistently paid far less than private sector. Politicians must find more money for essential workers.”

So what happens next?

The Government and Ministry have been told: HSU members have voted down this offer.

HSU members want to be focusing on taking care of patients and the community. But that is impossible when the Government has proposed a “pay-rise” will result in a real loss in wages.

As members may recall, the IRC has already required the parties to report on the progress of negotiations to date. There are two separate hearings – one for HealthShare specific claims, such as fair rostering practices, and another for pay.

There will be an IRC hearing on August 14 where it will be made clear that of the outcome of the vote, which is to reject the substandard pay offer.

All other HealthShare PTS claims will be dealt with in a separate IRC hearing that has yet to be set.

Keep the fight up.
