Homebush trainees will have their accommodation expenses reimbursed

The graduate induction class of July 2022 was the first cohort to undertake Induction at Homebush. The new recruits were directed to arrange their own accommodation with little time, and many ended up working for free after paying rent.
Freshly elected delegates from the July 2022 induction class handed out a petition demanding NSWA repay any costs associated with accommodation be repaid. A staggering 97% of all trainees signed the ADHSU petition – even those who were not affected by the issue.
Nearly 6 months later, NSWA has agreed to compensate the new recruits for any out-of-pocket costs, without a cap, for the accommodation they were forced to arrange for themselves. This multi-million-dollar per year outcome will affect all future generations of trainees.
ADHSU delegates have long held that the support for reasonable access to accommodation for induction classes has been inadequate – from substandard and unsafe options at Rozelle, to absolutely nothing for Homebush.
While this agreement applies to trainees from the July 2022 Induction class onwards, we understand that other members from previous courses may have also been disadvantaged. If that’s the case, please contact [E-Mail not displayed] to discuss your claim and whether you can recover any unfair costs.
Well done July ’22 inductees, they’ve started their Ambulance career in union style – and showed that sticking together can reap massive results.
