In December 2018, paramedics were first required to complete professional registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Authority (AHPRA). However, it took several years and a massive hard-fought campaign for NSW paramedics to finally achieve professional pay to go with it.

ADHSU delegates have been contacted by a PhD candidate at the University of Technology Sydney who is currently researching attitudes to health practitioner regulation among practitioners.

There is a distinct lack of paramedic specific academic research out there at the moment. This survey is a small way for paramedics assist in building a body of knowledge that will help the profession mature.
