HSU members at SCC Sutherland are concerned that their meal allowance has not been paid correctly.

Meal Allowance

Members who work overtime may be entitled to either a supplied meal, or a paid meal allowance. Meal Allowance applies in the following circumstances:

An employee who is required to work overtime for more than two hours and such overtime goes beyond 7:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. shall, at the option of the employer, be supplied with a meal or shall be paid.

Overtime – Breakfast- $13.44 per meal

Overtime – Lunch- ­$17.39 per meal

Overtime – Evening Meal- $25.38 per meal

Workers can claim up to six years of back pay but only union members with have the resources of the union in support of a claim.
