‘HANDS OFF OUR CAFÉ!’: Manning Base HSU members rally to have their say

COME TO AN IMPORTANT TOWN HALL MEETING – Wednesday, September 4 at NOON in the STAFF CENTRE

 Dear Member,

"HANDS OFF OUR CAFE!": That's the message from HSU members at Manning River Base Hospital who rallied outside the hospital this week, demanding HealthShare reverse plans to shutter four retail outlets, including the Manning Base Cafe.

Dozens rallied outside the hospital, complete with media coverage from local media including ABC, Prime and the Manning River Times, and delegates spoke at length about the impact closing the hospital café will have on workers and the wider community.

HSU members know the cafe area provides a retreat and place to relax and refuel as well as a respite for patients and their family members and are calling on HealthShare to reverse the decision.

NSW Health's corporate arm, HealthShare, made the announcement earlier this month without any public consultation and despite the vital role the cafe plays for workers and the wider community and while executives have met with café-employed staff, they have refused to meet with the wider membership.

HSU members will hold a town hall on Wednesday, September 4 at noon in the staff centre. HNE and HealthShare management have been invited – this is your chance to have your say, directly to those in charge!

Already more than 4000 people have signed a petition calling for a halt to plans. You can still sign the petition HERE.
