As you are aware, HSU workplace delegates contacted management in mid-July regarding the delay in applying your wage increase. Initially management wanted to delay implementing your pay rise, to try and negotiate changes to your Enterprise Agreement that would have left some staff worse off.

However, during workplace discussions and strong engagement with an HSU survey, union members made it very clear they did not support management’s proposed changes to the agreed pay rise. HSU members called for the approved pay increase to be passed on immediately.

If Garden Village is genuine about offering higher pay increases to those working in support services roles, HSU members encourage and support that. However, such increases must not come at the expense of other workers.

Garden Village management have now responded to the HSU stating:

‘Garden Village will be providing all employees with a flat 4% increase that is back dated to 1 July 2024. This payment will occur on Tuesday/Wednesday 13/14 August 2024 (depending on employee banks) with our current fortnight pay run.’
