Garden Village Enterprise Agreement: New Wage Offer

SURVEY BELOW – TELL US WHAT YOU THINK OF THE LATEST PAY OFFER

Garden Village are preparing to take their proposed enterprise agreement to a vote.

Management propose to split the pay increase as follows:

  • Personal Care Assistants, RAOs, Home Care Workers and Enrolled Nurses: 2.5% increase effective first full pay period on or after 1 July 2023
  • Non-direct care / support staff (i.e. Maintenance, Cleaning/Laundry, Catering, and Administration, etc.): 4% increase effective first full pay period on or after 1 July 2023

Further, Garden Village are proposing to have a guaranteed pay increase for the first year only.

As an alternative to a set percentage increase locked in for 2024 and 2025, Garden Village are proposing to base increases on the Annual Wage Review. Under this proposal, there will be a requirement that increases average 0.25% above whatever increase the Fair Work Commission hands down.

As an example, this year the Fair Work Commission ruled in the Annual Wage Review that Modern Award wages should increase by 5.75%.

Next year, if the Commission decides to increase Modern Award wages by 4% (for instance), this would mean that Garden Village Enterprise Agreement rates would increase by an average of at least 4.25% at minimum.

This proposal is unpredictable and completely depends on forces out of our control. Your pay rise in 2024 and 2025 would depend largely on what the Fair Work Commission decides.

It may force Garden Village to give a very good wage offer next year or allow them to give a very bad one.

Garden Village have stated they want the opportunity for flexibility in giving a larger share of the increase to staff closer to the Award. However, there is nothing requiring them to do so. What do you think? Do you believe them?

We want to hear from you! Would you support this agreement when it goes to a vote?
