Financial assistance in flood affected areas

To assist members in flood affected areas, we have collated the latest information on financial assistance available to affected members. See below:

Federal Government payments

Yesterday the Federal Government extended its Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment of $1,000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child to the local government areas of Ballina, Bellingen, Byron, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Tweed.

In addition, the Disaster Recover Allowance provides basic income support for employees who experience a loss on income and has also been made available in these impacted areas.

HSU Welfare Fund

Coming out of the 2020 bushfires, the HSU developed the HSU Welfare Fund to support members who experience extreme hardship because of natural disasters.
