eHealth: Proposed realignment of staff to SDPR Implementation Authority

The Ministry of Health has advised the HSU about introduction of a Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR) for the whole of NSW commencing March 2026. Under the proposal, the first rollout will be in Hunter New England LHD, NSW Health Pathology and Justice Health, later followed by other Local Health Districts and Health Agencies.

According to the SDPR Implementation Authority (SDPR IA) formed for the single patient record system, the Ministry has called for a Single Digital Patient Record for the whole of NSW rather than the 9 separate systems being used across NSW Health and for this they have signed an agreement with EPIC. They say the purpose behind this is to ensure staff can move across the different LHDs and speciality networks without the need for additional training or any skillset restrictions. At this stage the SDPR maintains that there will be no job losses from this change.

Members will receive updates once further information is shared with the HSU.
