Bupa Clemton Park: Roster Changes and Consultation Update
-
Published September 23, 2022
Earlier this month, HSU members at Bupa Clemton Park met to discuss the changes made to your rosters and hours of work, with no consultation from affected staff. As a reminder, your employer has an obligation to consult with staff when proposing to make changes to your regular roster or ordinary hours of work. In doing so, Bupa must notify relevant employees of the proposed change and do the following:
- Provide all relevant information about the change, including the nature of the change; and
- Provide information about what Bupa reasonably believes will be the effects of the change on the employees; and
- Invite the relevant employees to give their views about the impact of the change (including any impact in relation to their family or caring responsibilities).
Bupa must give prompt and genuine consideration to matters raised about the change by the relevant employees.
Despite members coming forward and your local HSU organiser liaising with management in an effort to ensure Bupa engages in consultation, your employer has still not followed the proper process and affected members still remain disadvantaged. The HSU is now looking to escalate the dispute to ensure that Bupa gives genuine consideration to member concerns.
In order to further gauge the affect these changes have had on members, we ask that you fill out THIS SURVEY before 5pm on Friday, 23 September.
If your colleagues are not yet HSU members, ask them to join so that they can also have their voice heard. They can join now by visiting www.hsu.asn.au/join or calling 1300 HSU NSW.
