Blue Care QLD – Your Enterprise Agreement is going to a Vote!

Blue Care is asking all staff to vote on a new enterprise agreement. By now, you should have received communications from your employer and a copy of the proposed agreement.
Your enterprise agreement protects your wages and conditions at work, so it’s really important that everyone understands how the proposed agreement and has a say in the vote.
The enterprise agreement will only be accepted if a majority of people who cast a vote, vote ‘yes’. Therefore, it’s up to you to decide if this agreement is good enough.
Some of the key improvements are:
Pay Offer
- Blue Care proposes to pay all employees a base rate of pay at least 5% above the minimum rates in the Aged Care Award, for the 3-year duration of the Agreement.
Allowance Increase
- Motor Vehicle Allowance will increase to the higher of the Award or ATO rate.
- Remote Overnight Respite Allowance will increase to $988.15.
- Uniform/Laundry/Meal Allowances will increase by 2% on 1 July each year of the agreement’s duration.
Income Protection
- Blue Care have now agreed to retain this clause, and there will be no changes to the existing entitlements.

Next Steps
Voting on your new enterprise agreement opens on 22 June 2023 and closes at 4pm on 30 June 2023. All HSU members are encouraged to have a say in this important decision.
The new agreement can only be accepted if a majority of staff who vote, vote ‘yes’. If a majority vote ‘no’, the HSU will keep representing members in further negotiations.
