AVEO has written to the Health Services Union on 26 September to advise of its intention to move to mandatory vaccinations for its workforce. Please see letter from AVEO at this link.
As part of consultation, we want to hear from you and your co-workers prior to any meeting with management. We will be holding a zoom meeting with the details below:
Date: Tuesday 5 October
Time: 6:00pm
Join by clicking this link: https://zoom.us/j/98430306328 (if you are using a phone you will need the Zoom app)
Or you can dial 02 8015 6011 with the meeting ID: 984 3030 6328
AVEO’s move to mandate vaccinations comes after public health orders in all states and territories that made it mandatory for all residential aged care workers to be vaccinated by September 17. Retirement villages were not covered by these public health orders. However, after consulting residents, AVEO has now decided to introduce its own mandatory vaccination policy.
At next week’s meeting we will discuss what this means for all AVEO workers, what the exemptions mean and where the law stands on workers who aren’t vaccinated. This meeting will help inform the HSU’s response to AVEO so it’s important that members attend. In the meantime, if you have any questions you would like addressed, please send them to [E-Mail not displayed].
Please share this with your co-workers. If they’re not already an HSU member, they can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 478 679.
Aged Care work has never been more unpredictable than it has been during the pandemic. HSU members have received support on everything from stand downs, to single site arrangements, to advice on medical exemptions. As a member you can be assured of accurate, up to date industrial advice – and you will get support when you need it.
