ADHSU forms Clinical Practice Guidelines and Skill Changes Committee

Considering the introduction of multiple new clinical skills since the pay rise on 1 July last year, ADHSU members have formed a Clinical Practice Guidelines and Skill Changes Committee.

The world of paramedicine is rapidly changing but it should be working union clinicians, not the executive, leading the charge. Therefore, the committee’s purpose is to oversee and evaluate how changes to NSW Ambulance’s Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) impact staff skills and the Award across all clinical levels and specialties. Its key functions include:

  1. Monitoring potential "skills creep" to determine if changes in clinical practice are significant enough to warrant a separate and immediate claim under the current Award.
  2. Documenting changes that may not immediately trigger a claim but could support work value considerations for the new Award in June 2026.
  3. Identifying opportunities to advance Professional Recognition for the next Award.
  4. Providing regular updates to the Statewide Delegates Group on clinical changes and their implications.

Clinical responsibilities and service should never stop improving, but conditions and pay must improve along the same trajectory.

If you have any views on changes or potential changes, contact your local delegate to get in touch with the committee!
