The Health Services Union has been alerted that workers are being called into individual meetings about reducing contracted hours without any prior notice in writing.
A reduction in contracted hours is deemed as a ‘major workplace change’.
HSU officials called for a meeting with the management on 9 April 2021 and made an agreement to assure that procedural fairness is in place when there is a major workplace change that impacts the workers. Please see the previous newsletter sent out on 21 April 2021.
According to clause 31.1 (a) of your Enterprise Agreement, your employer “must notify the employees who may be affected by the proposed changes AND their representatives, if any, which may be the union”, which means you have the rights to be represented by your Union representative throughout the process.
Also in 31.2.(c), “the employer must provide in writing to the employees concerned and their representatives, if any, which may be the union, all relevant information about the changes including the nature of the changes proposed, the expected effects of the changes on employees and any other matters likely to affect employees”.
You have the right to be represented and your union is here for you.
If you receive a call or are called to a meeting in this regard, contact your local organiser Hyojung Kim on 0458 012 322 or [E-Mail not displayed], or the HSU Aged Care Division via [E-Mail not displayed] immediately. Do not sign any document unless you are 100% sure what you are signing for.
