Wage Increase and PPE Updates

The HSU has been meeting with Laverty HR, securing outcomes on the annual wage increase, and on your PPE and health & safety needs at various collection sites.

Wage increase: Your enterprise agreement entitles you to a 3% wage increase as of the first full pay period following 1st of July 2021. Our understanding is that this is the pay period that ended on Sunday 25th of July. So, we encourage you to check that your wage increase is reflected in your pay for that period onwards.

Training and inductions: We are urging Laverty to improve the comprehensiveness and consistency of the training and inductions for new covid-19 collectors. We know this matter is important to members because it impacts the safety of your work environment, as well as that of your patients and the wider community.

PPE: We have noted that numerous worksites, particularly those doing covid-19 collections, lack adequate PPE and other health & safety provisions: from a lack of face shields, gowns and gloves, to poor heating and pile-up of biohazardous material. Please see the document attached HERE for a current list of sites and PPE issues that we have brought forward so far. Having notified Laverty, we expect these issues to be resolved in a timely manner.

That said, we continue to seek your input on further worksites with inadequate PPE, or any other concerns you have. Feel free to contact your organiser at [E-Mail not displayed].

Our effectiveness and negotiation power depend on the strength and density of our membership. Not a member of the HSU? Now is time to join and have your say! You can join online at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 HSU NSW and join over the phone.
