Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District have announced the closure of Port Kembla Hospital, to commence from 27 July 2023.

HSU members have repeatedly requested the proposed plans for the closure so that members can be consulted. However, management have continued to deny the HSU access, claiming they are not in a position to share the plans.

There are only five weeks until the closure of Port Kembla Hospital begins and staff are unaware of what their future employment holds.

Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District are refusing to consult as required by Clause 35 of the Health Employees Conditions of Employment State Award. The HSU will be seeking the assistance of the Industrial Relations Commission and demanding that ISLHD complies with Award conditions.
