Meredith House redundancy dispute update
-
Published June 8, 2022
Firstly, we want to say thank you to all the members for responding to our requests for meetings and payslips so quickly!
Because of the members haven’t backed down we can confirm that nearly $370,000 has been paid by Meredith House to its employees that wasn’t paid just a few weeks ago!
We are now in the home stretch, as members who attended our urgent meeting yesterday would be aware we appeared in the fair work commission today to discuss the unresolved issues which includes:
- Unpaid cancelled shifts which Meredith House committed to paying;
- The termination notice period that they have refused to pay members; and
- Some redundancies are still incorrect.
We can report that Meredith House Management are now claiming that staff received notification of termination on the 11 March 2022, which is the first time we are hearing about this after being in dispute for 3 months. Only once this has been resolved will they consider the other amounts owed to our membership.
We will believe it when we see it!
The Commission has ordered management to provide this elusive notice to all parties involved as soon as possible and once received we will notify members of what steps will be taken next.
Despite what occurs we will be back in the Commission next Thursday to continue to resolve this.
