Upcoming changes at McKenzie

The Health Services Union recently received correspondence from McKenzie Aged Care Group about the consolidation of its corporate entities. Please see correspondence at this link.
In response, your local HSU Organiser Kirk Rostock has held a preliminary discussion with McKenzie Human Resources to inquire into the scope of the changes and what possible impact this may have on you and your colleagues.
HR has confirmed that all employees will be offered new contracts of employment.
Further to this, we asked about those wishing to increase their contracted hours. There is a provision in your enterprise agreement for increasing contracted hours on an annual basis. For example, a member may have a contract for 20 hours per fortnight but may be working 60 hours.
In great news, McKenzie has now confirmed employees will be offered higher contracted hours or in the case of casual employees with regular hours, an offer of permanent employment. The exceptions will be those employees backfilling various leave.
Your local organiser will be visiting all sites over the next few weeks to meet with members to discuss these changes and bargaining in the future. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns about signing a new contract, you can contact Kirk directly on [E-Mail not displayed] or 0488 086 907 or the HSU Member Services Division on 1300 478 679.
If you know someone who isn’t an HSU member, let them know the good news about contracted hours, and the importance of being a union member. New members can join at www.hsu.asn.au/join or by calling 1300 478 679.
