HSU members at Uniting Arrunga have achieved a significant win by securing additional direct care minutes and raising staffing levels.

Recently, HSU members expressed concerns about the heavy workload at Uniting Arrunga. An HSU review of the allocated care minutes based on the number of residents found a shortfall of care minutes.

HSU representatives then met with management and HR to discuss workload issues and concerns about not meeting the direct care minutes. Following these discussions, Uniting reviewed the care minutes and agreed to increase CSE hours by 44.5 hours per day.

These additional hours will significantly improve staffing levels and ensure adequate care is provided.

This wouldn’t have happened if members hadn’t stood together! Members have done an outstanding job of coming forward with these issues and demanding a resolution.
