HSU aged care workers have won a major victory at Clendon Care, after discovering some nursing assistants, who held a Certificate III, were being incorrectly classified and underpaid. 

Nursing Assistants have been entitled to an increased hourly rate of $30.11 since 30 June 2023, following the interim decision in the HSU’s historic Aged Care Work Value Case.

However, some Clendon Care workers discovered they were being paid incorrectly and raised the issue with their local HSU representatives.

After HSU members raised the issue with Clendon Care, it has agreed to rectify the underpayment and pay back pay.

What’s next?

HSU members affected by this underpayment should receive written correspondence from Clendon Care management soon.

Clendon Care have advised the HSU the correct pay rates will be applied from your next pay period, and backpay will hopefully be processed within the next two pay periods.
