HSU members went to the Fair Work Commission on Friday, demanding Stella Maris commit to a timeline to remedy underpayments and misclassifications recently identified by union members.

Stella Maris has now committed to the following:

1. All identified backpay owing to members (from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2023 to now) will be processed by no later than 8 March 2024.
2. From the next pay, members will be paid the correct minimum award rate of pay.
3. Stella Maris will provide written correspondence to all members advising you of any underpayment, the issue that caused the underpayment, and the calculations relied upon to rectify the underpayment.

The HSU will report back to the Commission on 18 March 2024, to ensure that the steps agreed to above have been complied with.

All HSU members are encouraged to check your payslips and any correspondence from Stella Maris, when your backpay is received. If you have any concerns, please contact your organiser or delegate as soon as possible.
