Union win! Backpay for RAT testing at Holy Spirit Croydon
-
Published August 23, 2022
From September 2021 to March 2022, employees at Holy Spirit Croydon were being required to conduct RATs before their shift hours and weren’t being paid for their time. After months of fighting for proper pay, staff have received confirmation from management that you will receive back pay for this time.
As communicated by Catholic Healthcare, the following process has been conducted:
- CHL will review its records for the period 30 September 2021 to 31 March 2022, to identify staff who attended the workplace 15 minutes prior to the commencement of their shift for the purpose of completing rapid antigen testing.
- For each staff member and shift identified as a result of the review outlined in (1) above, CHL will calculate the amount that would have been paid to those employees had they been paid for time in attendance on-site while completing rapid antigen testing.
- CHL undertakes to pay the amount identified in (2) above, less applicable taxation, to affected employees.
I’d like to thank the HSU members who liaised with your HSU organiser and spoke to other staff in order to raise awareness of the underpayment. This goes to show that standing up in union to fight for your workplace rights make all the difference.
If you have any issues accessing the payment, please follow up with your HSU organiser HyoJung Kim. She can be contacted on 0458 012 322, or via email [E-Mail not displayed].
We’re stronger when we all stand together. If you know someone at work who is not a HSU member, tell them to join online at www.hsu.asn.au/join or call 1300 HSU NSW and join over the phone.
